South Shields carpet-firm boss lays foundations for future

The official launch of a new carpet store in South Tyneside has left its owner 'confident' of the future.

Robin Evans says he was “really pleased” with the turnout when he hosted an open day for traders.

Carpet Trade Direct is based on the Rekendyke Industrial Estate and aims to offer those in the business a speedier turnaround in the availability of carpets.

It is hoped by being based in South Shields it will make it easier and more accessible for fitters to pick up carpets, in some cases within an hour of ordering.

Mr Evans said: “I’m really pleased with how it’s going and we are all looking forward to what the future holds.

“It’s all about us being able to deliver the best service to our customers.

“Since we opened our cutting machine hasn’t stopped, and I am very confident in our products.”

The company buys in bulk, with new lines arriving once a week and sells a range of tools of the trade.

Carpet Trade Direct is open Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm, and Saturdays 8.30am to 12.30pm.
