South Shields curry house delighted with award win

Spice Garden, on Ocean Road in South Shields, came first place in the hunt to find the best curry house in the borough, after diners voted for the restaurant to win the title.

Manager Rukon Chowdhury, 36, said they were delighted to win the award and said it meant a lot to them.
He said: “We are very pleased to have won, we thought we might be in for a chance, as all of our customers has told us they had put us forward for it.
“We are so grateful to them for their support and we put our award down to their loyalty.”

The restaurant which has eight staff, has been open since 2006 and sees a regular stream of dedicated customers come through the doors.

Diners were urged cast their votes back in April and decide which restaurant delivered the best service, the freshest and most innovative cuisine, and decor.

Voters had to select their favourite out of a short-list of 22 eateries and submit their entry by April 22.

Mr Chowdhury extended his thanks to his two chefs, Akkas Miah and Md Ful Miah, who he said made the food customers love so much.

He added: “We have a lot of regular customers who will be very happy to hear that we have won the competition, after they have taken the time to have voted for us.
“We think they decide to vote for us because they all love our food and appreciate our good customer service.

“We always do our best do give the best service possible to our customers and we hope this win will bring more customers into the restaurant.”

The runners up and third place for the award were Zeera and Radhuni respectively, both also on Ocean Road.
