Crew from South Shields Volunteer Life Brigade (SSVLB) received reports of a jet ski rider in difficulty shortly after 6.30pm on Tuesday, July 28.

The team arrived on the scene, along with Tynemouth RNLI, but the man had already made it to shore.

His ski was recovered by the lifeboat and SSVLB transported him to collect his vessel.

Spate of car theft sparks police warning to motorists

A spokesperson for SSVLB said: “The team were tasked with our colleagues from Tynemouth RNLI to Littlehaven, after a report of a jet ski in difficulty.

“When team members arrived the rider had made it to shore but his ski was adrift, this was recovered by the ILB and taken to the yacht club slipway.

"We assisted a member of the ILB with the casualty and used our vehicle to transport him to collect his vessel.

"After giving safety advice we stayed until they left the scene.”
