South Tyneside fun-seekers can put themselves into a spin this weekend – while doing their fair share for a worthy cause.
Benevolent bosses at Ocean Beach Pleasure Park, South Shields, are serving up £30 worth of rides for just £5 each tomorrow – and are keen for “mayor” the merrier to take advantage of the discount deal.
All funds raised during a day of fun at the fair will bring in all-important funds for the Mayor’s Charity.
Those keen to get involved are urged to buy their tickets fast – as Saturday is the only day the special cut-price package will be offered.
Residents can buy two types of tickets for people under or over 1.2metres in height, allowing the whole of the family to enjoy a great day out.
This year, the Mayor of South Tyneside, Councillor Richard Porthouse, is raising funds for Cancer Connections, the Great North Air Ambulance and the South Tyneside branch of the Alzheimer’s Society.
Coun Porthouse is delighted that families are getting the chance to win a bargain day out – while bolstering the coffers of the annual civic charity pot.
Coun Porthouse said: “I’m very grateful to Ocean Beach Pleasure Park for their generous offer, which will allow people to enjoy a fantastic family day out, while also raising funds for worthy causes in South Tyneside.”
The fairground attraction has offered valuable support for the Mayor’s Charity in previous years – and this year’s extravaganza looks set to be another sure-fire hit.
Michael Sheeran, owner and operator at Ocean Beach, said “We are happy to be supporting the Mayor’s Charity again this year and helping to raise funds for three great causes.
“The day is a chance for people to come along, have fun and also help raise money and awareness.
“We have hosted this day for a number of years and it always proves to be a success.”
Tickets for the big day out can be bought from the Civic office at Jarrow Town Hall, or by calling (0191) 424 7311 or 424 7256.
