South Shields man hit with court bill over drugs haul

A South Tyneside man caught in possession of a haul of drugs has been hit with a hefty court bill.

Steven Rumney, of Roman Road, South Shields, admitted two counts of being in possession of cannabis and a further charge of carrying amphetamine - both Class B drugs - when he appeared before South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court.

The trio of drug offences all took place in South Tyneside on Wednesday, November 25 of last year.

The 42-year-old was fined a total of £120 for the three offences.

He must also pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £20 victim surcharge - making for a total court bill of £225.
