South Shields pupils praised for outstanding progress

Pupils in South Tyneside have been congratulated for their outstanding academic progress.

Marine Park, Seaview and Ridgeway primary schools in South Shields are all among the top three per cent of schools in England for progress, and have received letters from the Minister of School Standards praising them for the significant levels of progress made between Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 in English reading, writing and mathematics.

Coun Joan Atkinson, lead member for children and young people at South Tyneside Council, said: “This is a tremendous achievement and all the children, teaching staff and parents should be extremely proud.

“Pupil progress is a key indicator in the different our schools are making in pupil attainment.”
