A new South Shields reality star is appearing on our TV screens.

Ellie Brown is starring in ITV2’s hit dating show Love Island.

I’m not looking for anything specific

The 20-year-old business developer is one of the latest contestants to join this year’s series which sees singletons vying for love, and £50,000, by coupling up with fellow contestants.

However, she was a latecomer to the show and not part of the original line-up.

Despite this, she’s already made quite an impression on Dr Alex George - but it’s feared their ‘love’ won’t last and her attentions may be turned elsewhere.

Before entering the show, which is set in a villa, the chatterbox said: “I’m not looking for anything specific. If they make me happy, they’re for me, and if they don’t, they’re not for me.

She also described herself as being an “open book”.

She said: “If I’m in a situation where I’m annoyed and trying to calm myself down, it shows on my face. I have resting b*tch face. The best thing about me is that I’m honest and real.”

Ellie is just one of many South Shields stars who have found fame on reality TV shows.

Joe McElderry became a household name after winning ITV’s The X Factor back in 2009

Little Mix’s Jade Thirlwall and Perrie Edwards then followed in his footsteps by scooping the same title in 2011.

In 2009 Charlie Drummond made a name for himself by appearing in Channel 4’s Big brother, which later starred Alex Lee on 2011.

She then also went on to feature in BBC Three’s beauty show Snog, Mary, Avoid.
