Religeous leaders from across the country are getting set to lead South Tyneside in a day of prayer and music.

The North East Prayer 2018 interdenominational prayer conference will take place on Saturday at the new home of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG Living) Faith in South Shields.

It will see people travelling from across the region and beyond to take part in the event which will be held at the church in Robinson Street, South Shields.

This year’s event, led by Pastor Joseph Omoragbon, will see more female speakers taking to the stage to lead people in prayer.

Pastor Joseph said: “We have involved more women, this year. We have four female speakers who are all established in their different fields, who will be leading prayer during the day.

“This is the first time we have had so many female speakers.”

The focus of the day will be on praying for the economic advancement of the North East region.

Pastor Joseph, who moved to the borough along with his wife and four children to spread the word of God back in 2012, added: “Every community has its different challenges and we will be praying to help people and communities to overcome those challenges.

“It is very much an open event and people can come and go as they please. The day will be filled with positive feeling.”

The free annual event will feature Pastors from Manchester, Liverpool and the North East as well as a live band and refreshments.

The event is open to everyone and people can call in throughout the day.

Doors to the event open at 10am until 4pm.
