Ever since she was a teenager, Rebecca Greystoke has always wanted to be a fitness instructor.

Inspired by her own family’s battle with diabetes, she also hopes to encourage others with healthy eating plans through her personal training.

The 34-year-old, who worked in the radio and TV industry before launching Rawbex, has also battled with her own weight problems after piling on the pounds as a student, going from a size 8 to 18.

Rebecca, from Chichester, South Shields, said: “Being a personal trainer is something I’ve always wanted to do, ever since I can remember.

“I have family who have diabetes, so I know how important healthy eating is.

“I haven’t always been a size 8, I have also been a size 18, so I know some of the turmoils people go through to lose weight and how hard it can be.

“I just want to be able to inspire people to lead more healthier lives, while also trying to make it fun for them to help keep them motivated.”

As well as one-to-one personal training with individual programmes, Rebecca also works with those who have been referred by their GP and runs classes in Pound – a session which uses drumming to create a cardio interval training programme said to burn 400-900 calories in 45 minutes – and will soon be launching pilates classes.

Pound sessions are currently held at Ocean Road Community Centre, with pilates due to start at Trinity House, Laygate – both South Shields.

Group boot camp sessions – which will be run by the seafront – are also in the planning stages and are set to be launched next month.
