A raffle set up in support of two families who were devastated by the death of a beloved South Tyneside couple in a terror attack has smashed its £10k target.

Graeme Brett launched the TogetherForever Big Prize Draw following the Manchester bomb attack which claimed the lives of Chloe Rutherford and her boyfriend Liam Curry on May 22.

Since then Graeme, owner of Westoe Travel in South Shields - where Chloe was due to start work as a full-time travel advisor - has been raising funds for their families.

Already his initial target of raising £10,000 has been smashed. And with only days to go until the big draw he is hoping a new target of £20,000 can be achieved.

He said: “Chloe was loved by everyone at Westoe Travel and we wanted to do something to support Chloe and Liam’s families as they are such lovely people.

“The response to the raffle has been excellent and the prizes that have been donated have been fantastic.

I have been overwhelmed by the response.

Graeme Brett

“With the amazing support we have received from the people of South Tyneside and our colleagues in the travel industry we have passed the original target of £10,000.

“So far, we have raised £17,900 from ticket sales and pledges and we are keen to hit £20,000 by the end of August.”

Prizes up for grabs include Celebrity Cruises, Holidays, lifestyle vouchers, return flights to Dubai, train tickets, pantomime tickets, season tickets for South Shields Football Club.

This week, saw the families of Chloe, 17 and Liam, 19, launched the Chloe and Liam Together Forever Trust in celebration of their lives.

The Trust aims to help those in the world and performance and sport to further their talents through the use of bursaries.

It is hoped help from the Trust will enable them to reach their full potential something Chloe, who had a passion for performance, and Liam, who had a love of sport, had cruelly snatched away.

Tickets will be available until 5pm on August 30 and can be bought from Westoe Travel or the Customs House.
