South Tyneside charities urged to apply for coalfields funding

Charities in South Tyneside can grab a slice of £10,000.

The Coalfields Regeneration Trust, the only organisation dedicated to supporting former mining towns and villages, has opened the next round of its Coalfields Community Investment Programme (CCIP).

It gives organisations the chance to secure up to £10,000.

The £500,000 annual programme gives eligible organisations the opportunity to submit a simple application form to secure funds when they provide evidence that their plans will positively affect the employment, skills or health of local residents in a coalfield community.

Now in its third year, the CCIP has awarded more than a million pounds to community groups that deliver initiatives that provide a social and positive impact on former mining towns.
