South Tyneside College proud to recognise the hard work of top students

South Tyneside College is getting set to recognise the borough's top students as it backs the Gazette's annual awards.

The college is lending its support to the Student of the Year accolade in the Best of South Tyneside Awards.

Based on St George’s Avenue in South Shields, the college offers a range of courses and apprenticeships for school leavers, adults and marine students.

Alison Maynard, principal of South Tyneside College, said the college was delighted to be backing the awards once again, calling the annual awards ceremony a ‘highlight in the borough.’

She said: “We are delighted to support the Best of South Tyneside Awards.

“The celebration event is always a highlight in the borough, recognising the hard work, accomplishments and achievements of the people of South Tyneside.”

The Best of South Tyneside awards, this year, have the backing of Barbour, Northumbrian Water, Harlow Printing, BT South Tyneside, JML, UTS Engineering Ltd, and Warmseal.

The finals evening tomorrow, compered by Ray Spencer from The Customs House, will also feature the ever-popular Young Performer category.

Whoever wins will be following in the footsteps of last year’s winner Ellie Stephenson.
