Now potential successors are invited to throw their hats into the ring, with applications closing at noon on August 21.
But although the role for the successful candidate will be the same, the title they are applying for has changed to corporate director for children, adults and health.
The addition of the term ‘health’ acknowledges the fact that the borough council took over responsibility for public health three years ago.
Ms Watson took up the role back in 2008 at a salary range between £99,458 and £109,403. The current salary range is between £101,895 and £112,083.
The council’s advertisement for the post states the successful candidate should be an “inspirational and innovative leader”, adding: “You will inspire local NHS leaders, education professionals and voluntary sector partners to drive a programme of integration that delivers improved outcomes and seamless services for local people through joint workforce planning, shared intelligence and the development of state-of-the-art health and care facilities.
“If you are an inspirational and innovative leader, with a proven track record in delivering improved outcomes in social care, education, health or other people based-services, we look forward to hearing from you”.
