Sarah, who runs the group at Perth Green Community Association in Jarrow, said: “We usually come back with a few trophies, but I’ve never seen anything like this before – they did amazing.

“It’s a freestyle dancing contest and they do solo events and dance in pairs, as well as street dancing, and I just couldn’t believe how many trophies they came away with.

“We had 16 dancers in the contest and they all won at least one trophy each, and three of them won 5ft trophies after coming out on top in their sections, competing against people of all ages at their skill level.”

Katie Williamson was one of the under-10s to take part in the starters category and won.

Alisha McLean came out on top in the championship category and Abbey Burns won at premier championship level.

Sarah added: “All in all the dancers were just brilliant. They danced all weekend and clearly wanted to win so much and they really went for it.

“They all did extremely well and I’m just so proud of them all.”
