Parking in South Shields has caused great problems to trade in the town centre - far outweighing the net income from charges.

The installation of new meters is amazing.

To incur the expense at a time of austerity on new, complicated meters is beyond belief.

As someone who has lived in the Simonside and Rekendyke Ward for many years I care passionately about the local community.

Since becoming a councillor it has been my privilege to meet and to speak to many local people who have contacted me at my regular surgeries or through my home and by email.

During that time I have always endeavoured to assist individual constituents, community organisations and schools in the ward.

I believe that I have been a strong voice for Simonside and Rekendyke in the council chamber.

As Lead Member for Resources and Innovation I have been at the forefront of dealing with the unprecedented cuts imposed by this Tory Government, we have to deliver a balanced budget, but at the same time ensuring that this Labour Council protects services.

I am proud to be part of the wider Labour team that is delivering for South Tyneside. If re-elected I will continue to work on behalf of the people of Simonside and Rekendyke and for South Tyneside.

David Albert Ridley (Green Party)

I have decided to stand as a Green Party Candidate for the Simonside and Rekendyke ward to promote our environmental and social values on a local community level. Quite simply I was brought up in Bainbridge Avenue in Simonside and spent my formative years here and as consequence improving the quality of life for the people that reside here, many who are friends and relatives, is important to me. I would consider representing the community if elected as a privilege and an obligation of trust

John Howard Wright (UKIP)

I stood for councillor in Biddick/All Saints Ward in 2014 & managed a decent second place.

This year I am standing in Simonside and Reckendyke and seek the support of the many of you who no longer have faith in our Labour Councillors and who see them as growing more distant!

Clearly, new ideas, new thinking and much more approachable Officials are needed because, listening to People is the prime concern of Councillors, isn’t it?

Last time I stood, I had no personal literature & this time is no exception, but should you support me, I can guarantee I will take notice & strive very hard to help you!

I will be leafleting your ward and ask if there are some volunteers to assist me, I can’t promise much other than appreciation.

To help, telephone 3406712 or 07741208173 or email [email protected] Thank you all.
