South Tyneside man set for court date over hammer attack

A South Tyneside man is facing an assault charge after an early hours hammer attack.

Paul Henry Wilkinson, 34, from Mortimer Road, South Shields, is due to appear at Newcastle Crown Court accused of assault occasioning actual bodily harm after a 38-year-old man was hurt after a fight broke out in the street in Howlett Hall Road, Denton Burn at 3.21am on Sunday, May 29.

Police attended and the victim was found inside a property in the street with injuries to his head and body.

Michelle Daglish, who is 35 and from Iveagh Close in Newcastle, also faces the same charge.

They will appear at Newcastle Crown court in due course.

A 40/42 inch flat screen TV was also stolen from the victim's house in Howlett Hall Road at the time of the incident.
