South Tyneside NHS Foundation Trust has been recognised for putting people first.
The trust has not only been re-accredited with the Investors in People (IIP) Award but has gone beyond the basic standard, achieving bronze status, given only to organisations that can demonstrate that they are adopting the best staff development practices.
Trust chairman Peter Davidson said: “This is a magnificent achievement, which is a credit to everyone in the trust, particularly our learning and development team.
“As an NHS Trust and then as a foundation Trust, we have been accredited by IIP for many years.
“The integration of community health services in South Tyneside, Gateshead and Sunderland in 2011 made us a much bigger and more complex organisation, but we were still able to achieve accreditation.
“Now, to be re-accredited and gain bronze status makes me very proud indeed.
“Apparently, we weren’t too far away from silver, so that is now our target.”
