South Tyneside's three little princes arrive with Royal baby

Three baby boys born in South Tyneside today – either side of the latest addition to the Royal Family - proved they are their parents’ princes.

Ashley Gordon, 20, and Jordan Walton, of South Shields, welcomed son Mason into the world at South Tyneside District Hospital.

The tot, whose new clothes included a baby suit with the words ‘Prince Mason has arrived’, weighed a whopping 7lbs 7oz when delivered at 8.15am.

At 2.55pm, and on the same delivery unit, beaming Amy Henley, 31, and Turan Ahmet, 28, of Jarrow, became proud parents to a 7lbs 3oz son, who is yet to be named.

Ashley, who also has a 20-month-old daughter Meiyah with Jordan, said: “Mason may not be Royal but he’s my prince.

“His top had obviously already been made long before the Royal baby came along, but it’s nice coincidence that Mason was born today.”

Amy and Turan also have a year-old daughter, Romey, together.

Amy also has daughters Faith, 11, and Sydney, eight, while Turan is dad to Jyden, eight.

He said: “I’d heard about the Royal baby being born today and it’s is a lovely coincidence.”

Amy said: “We still don’t know about a name for him, we’re working on that. We’re just happy that our son is here.

The third South Tyneside baby was Frederick Edward Henry whose parents, Ashleigh and Richard Henry, live in East Boldon.

He was born at Sunderland Royal Hospital at 8lbs 4oz.

“I’m really happy because it’s my due date as well,” said Ashleigh, 31.

The Duchess of Cambridge gave birth to her fourth child - a boy - at St. Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, yesterday

The baby weighs 8lbs 7oz.

The new Prince of Cambridge is fifth in line to the throne and a younger sibling to Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

Kensington Palace said the name of the baby would be announced in due course
