A meeting will take place on Tuesday at The Word, National Centre for the Written Word, South Shields, at 6.30pm, to find out more about the ‘Once Upon a Time’ themed parade, which will be a vivid celebration of children’s storytelling.

The meeting will be led by local community interest company Creative Seed, who are directing the parade, and there will be a selection of carnival costumes on display as well as information available on how groups can be involved in developing creative ideas, choreography as well as costumes and decorations for the parade’s floats.

The parade will take visitors on an enchanting journey of storytelling through South Shields on Saturday, July 1, embarking from the Town Hall along Fowler Street and Ocean Road to the seafront, where the magical entertainment will continue with live music and storytelling themed family friendly activities in Bents Park.

Garner Harris, of Creative Seed, said: “We want to work with groups from across the region to help make this year’s South Tyneside Summer Parade the most colourful and spectacular carnival to ever sing and dance through the streets of South Shields.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to be a part of one of the key highlights of South Tyneside’s annual Summer Festival and bring to life an array of intriguing characters and exciting stories from children’s storytelling.”

Those unable to attend the meeting can call South Tyneside Council’s events team on (0191) 455 4031.
