The countdown is on to this year’s South Tyneside Christmas Fair with traders being urged to set their stall out for the seasonal spectacular.

A bumper 5,000 people got in on the festive fun last year as sellers laid on attractions such as handcrafted gifts and gourmet treats.

The event, organised by environmental charity Groundwork and South Tyneside Council, will be brimming with yuletide trade on November 26 and November 27 - but businesses have less than two weeks to stake their claim for the winter weekend.

The cost of a place is £60 for the weekend and organisers are urging stall holders to apply for places at the fair, held at Haven Point leisure centre, South Shields, by Monday, August 22.

Andrew Watts, Executive Director of Groundwork, said: “This is the fourth year the fair has taken place, and it gets bigger, better and more enjoyable every time. It is a genuinely exciting and high-quality event, which showcases South Tyneside in a very positive light and really helps put people in the mood for Christmas.

Councillor Alan Kerr, Deputy Leader of South Tyneside Council with responsibility for Culture and Leisure, said: “This is a wonderful opportunity for businesses across the region to showcase their products to thousands of people at our popular annual Christmas Fair.”
