Yuletide celebrations get into full swing with a truly magical family fun day in Whitburn on Saturday

The annual Whitburn Winter Festival Day will take place from 11am to 3pm, in the Barnes Institute in East Street.

A £1 entry fee applies which allows children to visit Santa, have their face painted or go on the bouncy castle! and adults will receive a complimentary festive drink.

There will be a wide range of stalls selling a fantastic range of gifts including arts and crafts, home accessories, beauty products as well as festive food and drink. Visitors can also enjoy a raffle and tombola, face painting, a bounce castle and a children’s bran tub.

Local shops will be joining in with the Christmas spirit with festive themed window dressings. There will also be Christmas carols and seasonal songs from local children.

Santa will also be stopping off at the event to meet with youngsters, handing out gifts and taking Christmas wish lists in his grotto.

The Whitburn Winter Festival Day has been organised by the Barnes Institute and volunteers, with support from South Tyneside Council. The East Shields and Whitburn Community Area Forum also contributed £1,000 towards the event.

The Barnes Institute Café will be serving a selection of traditional mince pies, turkey and stuffing sandwiches, soup and refreshments to visitors.
