Sporty South Tyneside youngsters have struck gold – after scooping a national accolade.
Pupils at St Bede’s RC Primary School have made it double delight after receiving a Gold Sports Kitemark Plaque from the National School Games Committee for a second time.
The award honours the efforts of schools to boost bodies as well as brains through their physical education provision.
PE co-ordinator Brian McVittie said, “The school has been recognised for a wide range of sports provision. This includes taking part in lots of inter-school competitions, where we enter numerous teams to allow as many children as possible the chance to compete. Our achievements at School Games Level 3 events were also commended by the committee.”
The school’s willingness to continue to promote the Olympic legacy was also praised.
