Starbucks will be brewing up a storm in South Tyneside at last.
The borough's first Starbuck's drive-thru store will be opening next to the Esso petrol station on Newcastle Road, Simonside, South Shields, tomorrow, from 9am.
The new venture has also created 20 jobs and will be offering NVQ apprenticeships.
Building work started on the site last summer, but the opening had been delayed a number of times.
Mo Tayab, head of brand for Euro Garages said: “We’re thrilled to be opening the new Starbucks store in such a great location. We’re looking forward to building relationships with the local community and getting to know our neighbours”.
The coffee chain will be open seven days a week, with normal trading hours running from 6am to 7pm, Monday to Friday, 7am to 9pm on Saturday and 8am to 9pm on Sunday.
The store will offer both indoor and outdoor seating to suit business users and shoppers as well as providing easy access for commuters and families on the go.
Simon Redfern, Starbucks communications director for Europe said: “We’re delighted to be opening our new store on Thursday. It’s particularly exciting to be opening the first Starbucks drive-thru in the South Shields area and we’re all looking forward to becoming part of the local community.”
