Stars head for Shouth Shields next year

A host of stars are set to strut their stuff at the Shields' Custom House in the new year.

Audiences are in for a treat with a programme packed full of comedy, drama, dance and music.

Shows feature a number of star studded lineups, including Eighties Scottish singing sensation Barbara Dickson.

She will be at the venue in Mill Dam, South Shields, to perform a range of her hit songs from I Know Him So Well to Another Suitcase In Another Hall, on February 7

Shield-born comedian Jason Cook will also bring his new one-man show, An Idiot Speaks on February 4.For youngsters, Doddington the Cow from Jack and the Beanstalk, stars in her own show And the Cow Jumped Over the Moon in February half term. The new season will feature the premieres of two new shows - The Rock and Five Dead Nobodies. Other theatre shows include a musical version of Great Expectations, thriller The Sound of Murder and Putting the Band Back Together.

Meanwhile, some of the UK’s best tribute acts will be appearing at the venue, including On Tour with Elvis, the Johnny Cash Roadshow and The Neil Diamond Rocks Tour. Other live music highlights include Irish duo Foster and Allen and Back in our Rock ‘n’ Roll Days, featuring 1960s original artist Billie Davis. Dance lovers have two particular treats to look forward to – Giselle, presented by Ballet Theatre UK on Saturday, February 25, while Strictly Come Dancing star Giovanni Pernice will grace the stage to present and perform Dance is Life on Friday, April 28. The South Tyneside International Magic Festival returns to the venue from Thursday, March 16 to Sunday, March 19.

Two debutants will make their way to the Tyneside venue in 2017 - hypnotist Robert Temple and TV psychic Derek Acorah.
