Midfield pair Jonjo Shelvey and Henri Saivet joined the relegation-threatened club last week.

But McClaren has also welcomed back Steven Taylor, Emmanuel Riviere and Rolando Aarons from injury.

Defender Taylor, striker Riviere and winger Aarons could all be involved against Watford at Vicarage Road this afternoon.

And head coach McClaren said: "Steven Taylor back in, Rolando is back in training, Manu Riviere, the two signings – honestly, it's like five new faces on the training ground, so that's also given us a bit of a lift.

“But (Watford) is a big game for us."

Newcastle are 18th in the Premier League, and a point adrift of safety, ahead of the Watford game.
