LITTLE bookworms gathered together in South Tyneside to celebrate the 20th anniversary of a popular story.

To mark 20 years of the book, Guess How Much I Love You, by Sam McBratney, staff at Central Library in Prince Georg Square, South Shields, held special storytime sessions.

Youngsters and their parents were invited along to hear the classic tale about two hares and their love for each other.

Children were also able to dress up and wear their very own hare ears.

Clare Young, early years librarian, said: “We held four storytime sessions to celebrate the anniversary of the book, and they were very well attended.

“It’s such a lovely story, about how much Little Brown Hare and Big Brown Hare love each other, and some of the parents even remembered the book from when they were children.

“We have a number of copies within the library and they’re always out on loan. This book has now become a modern classic.”

“The children especially loved wearing their Little Nut Brown hare ears.”

A 20th anniversary goodie bag can be won if people tweet @SouthTynesideLibs using the hashtag #whyilovemylibrary before Monday.
