Fitsteps is a collaboration between the Strictly Come Dancing stars Ian Waite and Natalie Lowe, and British swimmer Mark Foster.

Debra and Tanya have been teaching Fitsteps, the Latin and ballroom-inspired fitness class, for more than two years in Sunderland and Whitburn. Debra de Luen said it was great to have Ian attend the fitness class.

Debra, owner of Club Zest in Fulwell, Sunderland, where she runs Fitsteps classes, said: “Our lovely ladies who attend our Fitsteps classes love it when we have stories to tell them about working with Natalie Lowe and Ian Waite.

“So it was fantastic that they all got to meet Ian for themselves at the event and most had their photos taken with him.”

Tanya added: “Ian was blown away by the turn out.

“More than 180 people from around the region turned up to attend the class with him, it was a fantastic turn out and great to have such a big star of the dance world in our community.”

Those attending the masterclass sampled many dances with Ian, from the cha cha, samba, American smooth and waltz, to the tango, quickstep, paso doble and jive.

Fitstep classes are held every Tuesday at 9.15am and 6.45pm at Club Zest Ladies Leisure, Fulwell, and every Thursday at 6.15pm at Whitburn Parish Hall.
