Two of the most popular parts of today's Sunderland Airshow flying programme have fallen victim to the weather.

The RAF Falcons parachute display team, who were due to provide the day's first aerial entertainment at 12.15pm, is OFF.

And the ever-popular Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, which was grounded by the weather last night, will again stay at home today - and tomorrow.

It means visitors will miss out completely on the chance to see the iconic Spitfire and Hurricane fighters and Lancaster bomber, which date back to the Second World War
