Sunderland-born Henderson – who started England’s game against Australia at the Stadium of Light last month – could feature in a midfield three alongside Eric Dier and Jack Wilshere, while Daniel Sturridge and Jamie Vardy look set to line up in attack.

Reports also suggest that Hodgson will change his two full-backs, with Nathaniel Clyne and Ryan Bertrand set for starts as the England head coach looks to rotate his squad and rest players, despite not being guaranteed qualification yet.
