Sunderland star Jermain Defoe has had a veiled dig back at critics who gave him flak over his search for a personal assistant.
The 32-year-old striker was at the centre of a media storm in August when “Defoe Enterprise Ltd” advertised for a highly-experienced PA to help with the his family’s private, social and business plans.
Duties ranged from brand management to keeping his house clean – including stocking the fridge.
But Defoe took to Twitter last night to show he wasn’t afraid of doing his own chores, posting a picture of himself shopping in Waitrose.
The dad’s trolley was heavy on the green stuff, showing two giant heads of brocolli, mushrooms and a bag of budget-range “essential” lettuce.
