Sunderland swoop for Man United starlets Paddy McNair and Donald Love

Northern Ireland international McNair and Love - who made his debut against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light in February - have both been linked with a move to Wearside in recent days.

And now reports from Sky Sports suggest a fee has been agreed for the duo, with Sunderland in need of defensive reinforcements.

Sunderland have spent £8million on Chelsea centre-back Papy Djilobodji but face losing key defender Lamine Kone to Everton in an £18m deal.

As reported by the Echo, Sunderland will not sanction Kone’s exit until a replacement defender has arrived.

Sunderland boss David Moyes had hinted he would consider moves for fringe players at both of his former Premier League clubs; Man United and Everton.

McNair, 21, is a centre-back who has made a total of 27 appearances since breaking through as a trainee, while Love, also 21, is a full-back and was given his debut in Louis van Gaal’s first season.

Love spent time on loan at Wigan Athletic last season, making eight appearances.
