Whether it was watching the Good Friday parades, enjoying fish and chips or heading to the fairground, a sunny day in South Shields saw people head to the seafront in their droves yesterday.
At Ocean Beach Pleasure Park, in Ocean Road, people went for a spin on the rides, tried their best to win prizes and ate candy floss and ice cream.
Nicola Murray took her children Riley, two and Jennie, seven, along for some fun.
The 29-year-old, from Simonside, South Shields, said: “It’s a tradition, we come to the fair every Good Friday. It’s a really fun family day out.
“It’s good to get out and do something together, especially when the weather is so nice.”
Hayley McClay, from Wallsend, took her three-year-old son Charlie along.
The 27-year-old said: “We’ve started coming every Good Friday, and sometimes during the summer too.
“We haven’t got the Spanish City any more so we love coming here. Charlie really misses it when it’s closed in the winter so we make the most of it when we can.
“It’s a really fun day out when the weather is so nice.”
Ruby Martin, eight, loves visiting the fairground, and went along for some Good Friday fun with her nanna, Sharon Lamont.
Sharon, from Newcastle, said: “We’ve been coming every year for the last two or three years. We didn’t know about it before then but we found it when we were looking for something to do on Google.”
Ruby added: “There was a Dumbo ride last year that I loved and I really like the Miami Surf too. I’m going to try to win a prize as well.”
