Hide AdGomis wants a three-and-a-half year deal at St James's Park.
And it had been thought that the biggest stumbling block to any move would be his wage demands.
However, the report states that Swansea will "not consider" selling Gomis to United, having already offloaded midfielder Jonjo Shelvey to the club.
Gomis is not a primary target for Newcastle, who have bid £21m for West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino.
