Taxi firm is football team's new sponsor

Simon Oliver, owner of Green Dot Taxis, has answered the call from Boldon Colts Under-6s.

The team, run by Martin Clark and John Guy, was in need of a sponsor to help fund new strips.

Mr Clark approached the firm based in Boldon – and the owner jumped at the chance.

Mr Clark, who has been running the team since August, said: “I used to go to school with Simon and I knew he had his own business based in Boldon, so he was the first person I thought of.

“The kids were over the moon when we told them they were being sponsored.

“It is such a massive help, as without the sponsorship the kids may have had to rely on hand-me downs.

“The kids are a lovely set of kids and the support we receive of the parents is amazing.”

Boldon Colts have a range of football teams catering for a variety of ages at Boldon Community Centre in New Road, Boldon.

The Under 6s run their sessions on Thursdays at 6pm.

Mr Oliver said: “Green Dot Taxis is a local firm so it’s great we are able to help and support a local football team.

“It’s all about giving something back to the community, especially the youngsters.”

Green Dot Taxis offers a service including wheelchair access, eight-seater transport, airport fixed prices, light removals and route estimate prices. Pets are also welcome in their taxis.
