Taxi firms help boost Easter egg appeal for families in need

Two South Tyneside taxi firms joined forces to deliver a hamper-full of Easter goodies to a community group helping families in need.

Richmond Taxis and Dial-A-Cab Express dropped into Hebburn Helps with the haul of gifts following a collection at their respective firms.

The donation of Easter Eggs will be distributed to families in need to ensure youngsters don’t miss out on an Easter treat and youth-based community groups.

Steve Pippin, manager at Richmond said: “We often call in to Hebburn Helps to support them where we can as they do a really good job.

“It’s just the fact they are helping and supporting people who don’t have anything to get back on their feet.

“We supported them last year and also got involved in the toy appeal they were running at Christmas. It’s just a really worthy cause.

“As a South Tyneside based firm we always try where we can to give something back to the local community.”

Co-founder of Hebburn Helps based in Campbell Park Road, Jo Durkin who runs the cause alongside Angie Comerford said: “The donations we have received this year have been fantastic.

“Along with the Easter Egg donations from the taxi firms there were also toys. We can’t thank them enough.”

Hebburn Helps, launched in 2015, and based at South Tyneside Children’s Centre, in Campbell Park Road, provides help to families struggling to make ends meet through donations of food parcels, clothing, household items and provides drop-ins sessions for people seeking benefits advice and those aged 16-24 who are facing homelessness.
