A South Tyneside youngster is gearing himself up for a career in the motor industry after securing an apprenticeship with Jennings Ford.

Mark Graham is the latest teenager to join the motor dealer group after being offered a three-year apprenticeship at the company’s service department on Parsons Road, Washington.

The 19-year-old, from West Boldon, will work within the service department and take part in ongoing assessments and working towards achieving nationally recognised qualifications through the Ford Apprenticeship programme.

He aims to become a Ford- approved motor vehicle technician after becoming interested in the motor trade after spending his spare time helping dad Kevin fixing cars.

Mark said; “I’ve always had an interest in cars and helping my dad in my spare time made me realise just how much I wanted to make a career out of it.”

“The apprenticeship motor vehicle technician programme at Jennings Ford was the perfect option for me as it is allowing me to gain valuable hands-on experience through on-the-job training, as well as working towards achieving national vocational qualifications.”

June Appleyard, service manager, said; “Mark has a natural flair for mechanics, he is a quick learner and the knowledge and experience he already has, will go hand in hand.”
