Singing sensation Leonie Reay has been nominated for a Young Performer Award by members of the public, who said she was a passionate performer.

She has performed in various different shows, including lead roles in Grease, Hairspray and Elf.

The Year 10 student at Harton Technology College also appears in concerts at school and has performed in many fundraising events.

Gran Susan Booth said the award would mean the world to Leonie.

She said: “Leonie wants to have a career in musical theatre.

“She has singing lessons every fortnight with John Hudson Music Productions and also does dance lessons twice a week in ballet, tap and modern, at NU Dance Performance and Fitness.
“Leonie is doing very well at school and is in the middle of doing her mock GCSEs, but still manages to go to Starset every Sunday morning.
“On a weekend she also works as a part-time princess for Fairytale Wishes, where she goes to children’s parties dressed as a princess.

“She has been at Starset for around five years and just loves the theatre.

“We see quite a few shows around the town and also go to London a couple of times a year to see shows.

“Leonie is just passionate about singing and just loves musical theatre. She would be ecstatic if she won but she is going into it for the experience.”
