Teenager missing for more than a week could be in South Shields, say police

Police searching for a missing teenager believe he may be in the South Shields area.

Missing Tjay Gibson.

Tjay Gibson, 14, was last seen in Willington on Tuesday, March 7.

Police have been unable to trace him since.

A spokesman for Durham Constabulary said: "Tjay Gibson, aged 14, was last seen in Willington on Tuesday, March 7, near to Parkside Academy, since then various inquiries to try and trace him have drawn a blank.

"He is slim, with short, mousey brown hair.

"When last seen he was wearing black trousers, white shirt and a black blazer but is thought to be in the possession of grey jogging bottoms and purple Nike trainers.

“Tjay is known to have connections in the South Shields area and we are working with our colleagues from Northumbria Police to try and locate him."

PC Lee Garside, of Durham City Police, said: "Because of his age we are concerned for his welfare and would ask anyone who knows where he may be to contact us.”
