There is a fairer system

I have been prompted to contact you as I find the recent story of the gentleman fined £100 for his 'breach' of the parking regulations at South Tyneside hospital incredible.

There seems to be no flexibility or compassion.

I have had reason to visit Durham hospital recently and their system appears to be much fairer. On entry you drive through a barrier and collect a ticket. The first 20 minutes are free to enable pick up or drop off. On leaving, your ticket is read at a machine where you pay for the time you have been there and your ticket is used to open the exit barrier (similar to the system used at Newcastle airport).

Why, oh, why, did Parking Eye not introduce this system?

It would eliminate any “breaches” of regulations and no one would ever be fined – or maybe this is why they don’t want this system as they would lose revenue.
