Tinker Smiths in South Shields will be holding a charity night on Thursday, July 28, to support three charities which help the people of South Tyneside.

As part of the event the pub plans to mix up with a signature cocktail for the evening and money from the sale of each one will go towards the fund-raising.

The staff at the Stanhope Street pub said they are expecting a huge turnout and want to raise a significant amount for the trio, People’s Angels, Hope and Hebburn Helps.

People’s Angels collects donations and clothes and toys and distributes them to those in need, Hebburn Helps is a foodbank charity and Hope is an organisation which supports homeless people in the town.

Emma Brough, a member of staff at the pub, said: “We thought this night would be a way of bringing the community together and raising a bit of money as well.

“The people who work for the charities do so much, so we thought it would be nice to give them a fun night.”

During the evening there will be entertainment from local artists, as well as a human jukebox throughout the night where people can pay to choose the songs they want people to perform.

A number of businesses have also donated prizes for a raffle on the night.

Emma said they don’t have a target figure, they just want to raise as much as they can for the charities which support the people of South Shields.

Anyone is welcome to go along to the event and the pub is also collecting non-perishable food items for the charities.
