Tributes have been paid to a much-loved great-great grandfather, who has died at the age of 100.

Enoch Growcott, from South Shields, was father to Robert and the late May, and had three grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, and a late wife Doris.

He was a very, very proud man with top-notch principles in everything he did

He spent the final months of his life at Windsor Nursing Home, in Hebburn, and was a proud member of Brigham and Cowan Social Club, as well as a former Marine.

Son Robert said: “He’ll be very sadly missed by a lot of people. He was a very, very proud man with top-notch principles in everything he did. He was very proud to be a Lawe Topper, and was well-loved by many people.”

Mr Growcott’s funeral is at 11am tomorrow at South Shields Crematorium, on John Reid Road. The family has asked floral tributes to be sent to Peter Johnson Funerals, in Imeary Street.
