Two men arrested over alleged air weapon attack on elderly woman
Police investigating an incident where an elderly lady was injured by an air weapon have arrested two men.
The incident happened around 8.40am on Sunday in Erskine Road in South Shields. The woman was taken to hospital for treatment for her facial injuries, she has since been released and is recovering at home. Last night, two men were arrested in connection with the offence. A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and a 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. Both have been released on police bail. Inquiries are on-going and any witnesses should contact police.
