Vasey, Lydon make derby point for Harton against Jarrow

Harton and Westoe shared the spoils with Jarrow in a hard-fought South Tyneside derby in the TWR Bi Fold Wearside League last night.

Ewan Vasey and Daniel Lydon were Harton and Westoe’s marksmen, while Stephen Graham (pen) and Peter Kane replied for the Perth Green side to ensure a 2-2 draw.

Jarrow had won the previous league meeting between the sides 2-1.

Tenth-placed Boldon CA succumbed 2-0 to Cleator Moor Celtic, who are battling to finish as runners-up, with Stuart Shaw and Tom Mahon on target for the Cumbrians.

Leam Rangers, Boldon’s opponents in the Shipowners’ Charity Cup final on Friday, May 20 (7pm kick-off at Boldon), crashed 3-0 at home to Sunderland West End.

Boldon are back in action on Saturday, hosting Annfield Plain, while Harton and Westoe and Jarrow face long trips south, to Richmond Town and Wolviston respectively.

Stockton Town were crowned champions for a fourth consecutive season, thanks to a 3-0 win at Annfield Plain, and are on their way into the Ebac Northern League.

Adam Nicholson, Stephen Roberts and Sonni Coleman were the Teessiders marksmen in a comfortable victory at Derwent Park.
