Coun Alan Kerr, Deputy Leader of South Tyneside Council, with responsibility for Culture and Leisure, said: “We are really excited to be launching our new virtual fitness classes at Haven Point.

“We appreciate people are leading increasingly busy lives and, for many, finding time to exercise can often be difficult.

"These new classes not only give our residents more freedom, flexibility and choice over what exercises they want to do at a time that suits, but are designed to deliver incredible results.

"They also provide better access to group exercise while offering a great opportunity for people to try something new.

“We remain fully committed to improving our leisure services offer and supporting people to enhance their health and fitness.

"This continued investment in the Haven Point exercise programme and introduction of the new technology help us to reduce downtime and increase use of the studios, which in turn, provides better value for money.

“While our regular ‘live’ group fitness classes will remain a vital part of the exercise programme, we believe the virtual classes will be a welcome addition and prove just as popular.

"We have already trialled the technology and the response has been extremely positive.”
