A South Shields grandad provided lots of treats – and tricks – this Halloween by giving his house a spooky makeover.
Stan Yannetta adorned his home in Heaton Gardens, South Shields, with giant spiders, ghosts and monsters to give the neighbourhood children a fright.
The 54-year-old’s home, off Benton Road, Whiteleas, is one that already catches the eye as its garden is packed with statues of characters like Laurel and Hardy and King Kong.
But on Saturday, it became a haven for all things that go bump in the night.
Stan, a grandad-of-four, said: “It was brilliant and there was an unbelievable turn out – I couldn’t believe how many people showed up.
“Hundreds came to see the house, and I’m not even exaggerating, there were hundreds there.
“People started knocking from 5.15pm and I didn’t even have all the lights and everything turned on yet.
“There were cars lined up on both sides of the road, all the way along. The next day I was bumping into people I know and telling them they should have come along and they said they were there, but it was that busy I couldn’t see everyone.”
He added: “Some of the kids were a bit scared but they all loved it and it was brilliant to see them enjoying it so much. I’ll definitely be doing it again next year.”
