Snow on Christmas Eve but will it be a white Christmas? This is South Tyneside’s five-day festive weather forecast

The North East has seen wintry showers on Christmas Eve morning but could there be a white Christmas?

Forecasters are predicting cold temperatures and have issued a yellow weather warning for wind on Boxing Day.

Here is your five-day Christmas weather forecast for South Tyneside, according to the Met Office:

Thursday, December 24

Forecasters are predicting a cold and wet Christmas Eve, with a frosty start to the day.

As we head into the afternoon, rain showers are expected to turn wintry, however there could also be some sunny spells.

Temperatures are expected to be no higher than 4°C.

Friday, December 25

Those hoping for a white Christmas are set to be disappointed as the Met Office forecasts a dry and cloudy day.

Despite the overcast day, rain is not expected however it will still feel cold, with temperatures around the 5°C mark.

Saturday, December 26

The Met Office have issued a yellow weather warning for wind to start from Boxing Day.

Despite the heavy winds, the temperature is expected to rise to around 7°C with some rain showers predicted.

Sunday, December 27

The weather warning will remain in place for Sunday however it is expected to remain dry.

Forecasters are predicting a mainly overcast day with some sunny spells and highs of 5°C.

Monday, December 28

As we head into the bank holiday, the wind is expected to die down and we look set for another dry day – temperature is set to be 5°C.
