Here's a quick run down of the events taking place to mark the Tall Ships Races coming to Sunderland:

TUESDAY 10 JULY

45% of the ships will have arrived by the end of the day

Event Zone A - opens from 4pm until 10pm

Event Zones B & C - open 10am until 10pm

Tuesday entertainment programme - all zones

Some Tall Ships will arrive on Tuesday making spectacular viewing from the seafront and along the River Wear quaysides.

All bars, caterers and trade and exhibition stands will be open.

Official Tall Ships Makers' Market open 10am-10pm at Event Zone C.

The Observation Wheel is on the show field at Event Zone B, ready for a ride.

The stage programmes at Town Moor in Event Zones B and East End and C will be in full swing with local school groups and local performers.

3pm -7.30pm - Old-school games, football and athletics at the Multi Use Games Area in Event Zone C.

4pm -10pm - Free family activities in Event Zone C in the Discovery Marquee.

5pm & 6.30pm - Penella Bee will entertain the crowds with an interactive performance “Senora’s Gambit” played out on a giant chess board in Event Zone A.

6pm & 7pm - Emma Bloomfield presents "Jack’s Story”, an aerial circus re-enactment of the story of Jack Crawford,the Hero of Camperdown, in Event Zone B, at the Barrack Street Entrance to the Port.

WEDNESDAY 11 JULY

All ships will have arrived by the end of the day

Event Zones A, B and C open from 10am until 10pm

Wednesday entertainment programme - all zones

All ships will have arrived into Sunderland by noon and ships will open at specific times for visitors to go on-board and discover more.

The stage programmes at Town Moor in Event Zones B and East End and C will be in full swing with local school groups and local performers.

10am -12noon - A live-streamed world record attempt, The Big Sing, will be made at the stage at Event Zone C as schoolchildren from across Sunderland sing a collection of songs.

10am and 10pm - The official Tall Ships Makers Market is open in Event Zone C.

10am until 4pm - The Donnison School in Event Zone B will be showcasing a Sunderland Shipbuilding Exhibition

10.30am, 12.30pm and 2.20pm - Thomas Potts WEAR PIRATES, WE ARRRRRRRRR! follows the misadventures of Spottee, Dottee and Pottee, a trio of eccentric seadogs who find themselves shipwrecked in Sunderland, Event Zone C

12.30pm & 4pm - Extraordinary Bodies showcase their groundbreaking new circus show What am I worth? in Event Zone C.

12.30pm, 3.30pm and 6pm - In Event Zone A Penella Bee will entertain the crowds with an interactive performance “Senora’s Gambit” played out on a giant chess board.

1pm- 8pm - Our Georgian Festival will open at Holy Trinity Church, Event Zone B. Visitors will be greeted by characters in costume and can listen to talks, watch demonstrations and enjoy traditional Georgian games and activities.

1.30pm, 3.30pm & 5.30pm - Sunderland's own Emma Bloomfield re-enacts the story of local hero Jack Crawford, literally climbing a mast of one of the Tall Ships (Santa Maria Manuela) in a daring display of aerial artistry. Event Zone A

6pm-7pm - The local East End community will celebrate the arrival of the ships with their own special Welcome Parade in Event Zone A.

6.30pm - Sisus Sirkus, an all-girl Finnish circus company perform in the UK for the first time. Don't miss them in Event Zone B, at Barrack Street.

7pm - Royal Northern Sinfonia and Sunderland Sympony Orchestra will take to the main stage in Event Zone B, with some classics to sing along to.

9.30pm - The day closes with a short firework display from the Port

THURSDAY 12 JULY

3pm - 4.30pm - Crew Parade makes it's way from the Civic Centre, through the city centre to a prize giving ceremony in Event Zone C. The 1200+ crew will be joined by Close Act’s astonishing stilt dancers and electro drummers on the carnival style parade.

3.15pm and 7.45pm - Southpaw Dance will be whirling themselves around a real fairground carousel in a spectacular show in Event Zone B.

FRIDAY 13 JULY

Event Zones A, B and C open from 10am until 10pm

Friday entertainment programme - all zones

Crew changeover day – all 151 Sunderland Sail Trainees join their ships and official race business starts to get serious as the Captains set their sights on Esbjerg.

The Observation Wheel, funfair, food and drink stalls and many more activities are open all day. Ships will be open for free access throughout the day

Georgian Festival at Holy Trinity Church in the East End, 1pm-8pm

The official Tall Ships Makers Market is open in Event Zone C between 10am and 10pm.

1.30pm, 3.30pm & 5.30pm - Sunderland's own Emma Bloomfield re-enacts the story of local hero Jack Crawford, literally climbing a mast of one of the Tall Ships (Santa Maria Manuela) in a daring display of aerial artistry. Event Zone A

11am & 1pm - An upturned shipwreck is the stage for Citrus Arts “Shipwrecks” a dance and aerial performance in Event Zone A.

2pm & 5pm - Paulo Nani is “Jekyll on Ice” a hilarious clown ice cream seller entertaining visitors in Event Zone C.

3pm and 7pm - Southpaw Dance will be whirling themselves around a real fairground carousel in a spectacular show in Event Zone B.

9.30pm - An awe inspiring high wire walk across the River Wear by Cirque Bijou is the highlight of the event, accompanied by live music and a few surprises! This event is best viewed from St Peters riverside at Event Zone C.

SATURDAY 14 JULY

Event Zones A, B, C and D open at 10am

Saturday entertainment programme - all zones

The ships will be closed to the public as they make their final safety checks and preparations to embark on the race to Esbjerg.

10am-6pm - The official Tall Ships Makers Market continues in Event Zone C offering the finest local food, drink, art, design, vintage and modern crafts carefully selected from local businesses and artisan producers

11am - Paulo Nani is “Jekyll on Ice” a hilarious clown ice cream seller entertaining visitors in Event Zone C.

12noon & 2pm - An upturned shipwreck is the stage for Citrus Arts “Shipwrecks” a dance and aerial performance in Event Zone A.

12noon -8.30pm - For this year only, Summer Streets Music Festival moves to Recreation Park, Seaburn

5-7pm - Parade of Sail - Between 1.30pm and 5pm the ships will leave their berths and move out into the North Sea to take part in the stunning Parade of Sail. At 5.30pm until 7pm the ships will parade northwards up the coast to Souter Point, before turning round and heading out to the North Sea.

The coastal resorts of Roker and Seaburn will provide fabulous viewing points as the city bids a fond farewell to the fleet. Leg 1 of The Tall Ships Races from Sunderland to Esbjerg will begin out to sea between 8pm and 9pm.
