When South Shields played at Simonside Hall

The Mariners may be looking forward to their trip to Wembley, for the final of the FA Vase, but today we look back, at the time South Shields played their home games at Simonside Hall.

We have images from winter, spring and summer – showing groundsmen battling against the snow and ice, and lifting turf ready to relay part of the pitch.

One of the pictures, taken in August 1965, shows the newly-modernised directors’ room at Simonside Hall.
