Whiteleas' stand-in skipper airs caution ahead of Boldon clash

It's another local derby for Whiteleas and Harton as they make the short trip to Boldon CA tomorrow with the intention of maintaining their unbeaten start.

Following their convincing win over Marsden last Saturday, confidence is high in the Leas camp, but a stern warning of ‘not taking any game lightly’ has been issued by stand-in skipper Steve Martin.

With Owen Peterson missing, Martin is looking forward to taking the reigns against his former club.

Martin said: “We had a great win against a side that topped the table last week, but we have to treat tomorrow’s game with the respect is deserves.”

“I enjoyed two great seasons at Boldon, therefore it’s a nice occasion for me to go back there for the first time and captain Whiteleas.

“They picked up their first win of the season against Silksworth last week, so we know we are in for a tough game.

“However, we are hoping our momentum carries us forward and we return with a good win.”

Leas, who are four points behind leaders Peterlee, welcome back all rounder Rob Scorer and wicket keeper Scott Oliver for the game.

The second XI welcome Boldon to Harton Welfare (1.30pm start), and will also be hoping for back-to-back derby wins following their victory over Marsden last Saturday.

Sid Corner Snr names an unchanged side with several of his players knocking at the door of the first XI.
