Philip Leslie Berry (Green Party)

I am a cancer research scientist at Newcastle University who has lived in both East Boldon and Cleadon for over 25 years and I’m very pleased to have the opportunity to stand for the Green party in this ward. 

I feel certain I can be a worthy representative for the citizens of these two villages who clearly care for their surroundings. 

Having spoken to a number of constituents it seems that problems around parking for East Boldon Metro and shops as well as recent decline in the Metro service are issues that resonate. 

I would prioritise these issues as well as try to arrange for the installation of outdoor gym equipment at parks in the two villages so that they could be more useful to a wider age range than at present. 

Vote Green on the 5th of May and vote for real change.

Jeffrey Edward Milburn (Conservative)

Dear Cleadon and East Boldon residents, I am the Conservative candidate for this ward. 

I have represented you now for ten years, always working hard on your behalf and scrutinising every move Labour make, such as the council’s plans to build up to 4000 new houses on green field sites like those which surround Cleadon and East Boldon.


This year it is more important than ever that you turn out and vote Conservative on polling day or return your postal ballot. I am the only remaining Conservative councillor within South Tyneside and even if you don’t agree with all our national policies, a protest vote will only ensure a council totally ran by Labour. 

All opposition will be wiped out and that can’t be good for anyone, especially those of you who have pride in where you live and village way of life. Vote Jeff Milburn on Thursday May 5th.

David Townsley  (Labour)

It is a great honour to be selected as the Labour party candidate for Cleadon & East Boldon. 

I know and love our area and have lived here for several years with my partner and our two young children both of whom attend our local schools. I am an entrepreneur with over 25 years experience in business, but I have always found time to support the community.  

I am Chair of Governors at Hedworth Lane Primary School, vice chairman of a nationwide children’s charity, an active volunteer with Age UK. I also a board member at Gentoo Homes and served as a Special Constable with Northumbria Police for over 10 years.  

I promise to serve residents of Cleadon and East Boldon well by being both an energetic and an engaged councillor. I will be a visible presence in our villages and easily contactable, as well as responding promptly to concerns.



Whitburn and Marsden

I come from a Labour voting background, so why am I now not only supporting UKIP, but I am standing for them in Whitburn and Marsden?


I realised, like millions of others, that something has gone wrong with our country, with our most vulnerable having to pay the price. 

From a growing number using food banks to fuel poverty for our elderly to our total absorption into the EU, with the surrender of our laws and the right to govern ourselves. People are now of the same opinion and are reacting by voting for UKIP. 

The response in the South Tyneside region has been phenomenal and growing day by day. We need more and more to join the crusade, after all, this is where it started from once before!

I am extremely proud to be standing for the second year as the Whitburn and Marsden candidate for The Green Party.


I am part of the massive surge of people who have come to the realisation that those currently making decisions on our behalf do not know us, do not represent us and do not have our best interests at heart.

Richard Frederick Gosling (Conservative)


I came to South Shields in 1962 to attend the marine school, and have lived here ever since. I have worked as a chief engineer at sea and as a consultant mostly in the far east, but also in Europe and the USA.


I have been a member of the Conservative Party since the 1960s and since then, under successive Labour dominated councils, the town has declined from a thriving community with first class shopping and entertainment facilities to the ghost town it is today.


I would try to reverse this trend by reducing or scrapping parking charges, and examining other incentives to encourage business into the town. In Marsden and Whitburn, Lizard Lane has always been a source of traffic concerns, and a resolution to these problems must be addressed as a matter of urgency.

Tracey Allison Dixon  (Labour) 


For the past 14 years I have been the Labour ward councillor for the Whitburn and Marsden Ward and this year I am honoured and delighted to be the Labour candidate for the 2016 local elections. 


I am a school governor, a member of the Whitburn Festival Group, secretary of Dr Tripletts Charity, and sit on the council’s Cabinet. I have helped deliver a number of schemes including the refurbishment of local play park and speed reduction at Whitburn Primary School. 

And for 2016/2017 there will be a new road safety scheme to be implemented at Marsden Primary School, proposals for new older persons housing on the site of Croftside Court and the new housing development at Farding Square.


I have had a number of achievements over the past 14 years and have listened to our residents and hope that you will vote for me so I can continue the work I have started and for you to still have a loud voice in the council chamber.
